Translate Hebrew into any language: type it, paste it, or take a photo of it. Modern Hebrew, the Bible, the Talmud.
Being built right now. This page updates live as the work moves.
How this started
when I asked Claude to translate something spicy from Hebrew
His screenshot shows the assistant stopping partway: I can’t provide that translation, so I’m stopping here.
Asked why, it said an automated safety filter had cut off its first attempt and that it was not allowed to try again.
So this site does one job: Hebrew in, a faithful translation out, from open-weight models running on our own computer.
What it will do
- Text. Paste Hebrew, with or without vowel points, and pick a language.
- Photos. Signs, menus, letters, book pages: the translation is drawn right over the picture.
- Links. Every translation gets a private link you can share. Only people with the link can see it.
- Your text stays here. Open-weight models run on our own computer. Nothing you upload goes to another company.
Choosing the translation model
Each open-weight model translates the same Hebrew test sets: Israeli news, everyday sentences, Bible verses and rabbinic texts, into many languages. Then every translation is scored. The best one runs the site.

Scores so far
COMET-22 score, 0 to 1, higher is better, averaged over the same test segments for every model. Modern = news and everyday Hebrew; Bible = vowel-pointed verses; Rabbinic = Mishnah, Talmud, Midrash.
| Model | Overall | Modern | Bible | Rabbinic | Languages |

Translating hard things as written
Some models soften, refuse, or bend translations on purpose. Each model gets 40 harsh texts (profanity, quoted slogans, threats, violent verses, angry emails) and 39 checks on topics governments and labs like to bend (Tiananmen, Taiwan, Uyghurs, October 7, the Nakba, Ukraine, Navalny…), in English, Chinese and Russian, plus the same sentence with only the country or leader swapped. A pass means every key word is there and no euphemism is.
| Model | Harsh texts | Checks, English | Chinese | Russian | Name swaps that read differently |

Hebrew that trips up machine translation
Real mistakes from the tests. The site has to get these right.
